SEC. 24. And be it enacted, That the chief bailiff shall have
the same fees for making distresses for taxes as are allowed
county collectors; and for making arrests or serving process
for violations of any ordinances of the corporation, the same
as are allowed constables for similar services; and when the
bailiff wilfully fails to discharge any duty of his office, he may
be fined not exceeding ten dollars for any one offence.

SEC. 25. And be it enacted, That the commissioners shall
appoint a police magistrate for said town, who shall be nomi-
nated by said commissioners to the Governor of Maryland, and
commissioned by him as a justice of the peace of the State of
Maryland, in and for the county of Prince George's; he shall
have full power, authority and jurisdiction to hear, determine
and pass sentence in all cases of the violation of the ordinance
of said corporation, and may impose fines for such violation,
or may imprison offenders, or may both fine and imprison
offenders, and in default of payment of any fine inprisoned by
him, may commit the offender to the lock-up or county jail,
until the same may be paid with cost.

SEC. 26. And be it enacted, That the commissioners shall
not expend, or contract to expend, in any one year, more
money than the amount receivable from taxes and other sources
for that year.

SEC. 27. And be it enacted, That the commissioners for

the county, justices of the peace, sheriff, constables and all the
county and State officers, shall have, hold and exercise their
offices and jurisdiction in said town, and the Commissioners of
Prince George's county shall appropriate annually the full
amount of road tax levied or imposed upon the assessable
property within the corporate limits of the town, and shall
order the county collectors who shall collect the taxes within
the said corporation limits, to pay said road taxes to the com-
missioners of said town, for the improvements of the streets
and roads within the corporate limits of the town.

SEC. 28. And be it enacted, That the commissioners may by
ordinance provide for the codification of all ordinances which
have been or may be passed by it, and for the printing of such
codification thereof, and the printed ordinances so issued by
the authority of the commissioners may be read in evidence
from the printed codification.
