or pledge of its property and franchises; to receive as
security and to trade or invest in stocks and bonds of public
or private corporations and other evidences of indebtedness
or symbols of property, and in property of every class and
description in the State of Maryland or elsewhere, with the
right to vote on all shares of stock owned by it as owners
or agent, subject to the conditions of such agency in any
other companies or corporations, the same as a natural per-
son, and to aid in any manner any corporation or company
whose shares or securities it may hold.
SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That the operation of said body
corporate shall be carried on in the State of Maryland and

elsewhere in the United States, and that it shall be author-
ized to commence operation when it has paid the bonus tax
required by law on its capital stock; and said corporation
shall be entitled to the benefits of all the provisions of
Article 23 of the Code of Public General Laws, entitled
" Corporations," and any amendments thereto which are not
inconsistent with the powers and limitations hereby specif-
ically granted and imposed.
SEC. 7. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 472 1/2.
AN ACT to limit the charges by common carries for milk,
cream, buttermilk or skim-milk, and to fix the minimum
quantity of milk, cream, buttermilk or skim-milk hauled
by any common carrier.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted, That on and after April 15, 1906,

no common carrier shall charge for performing the acts of
receiving, hauling, icing, or delivery between any two
stations, wharves or other regular stopping places on its line
or branch line, for a distance not exceeding thirty (30) miles,
a total rate greater than two (2) cents per gallon for milk or
cream, or one and one-half (1 1/2) cents per gallon for butter-
milk or skim-milk, or two and one-half (2 1/2) cents per gallon
for milk or cream, and two (2) cents per gallon for butter-
milk or skim-milk, for a distance not exceeeing fifty (50)
miles.
