Provide for the
release of
sureties on
the bond of
any bank.

State Treasurer shall notify the Governor and the State
Treasurer of their or its desire to be relieved from further
liability as such surety, the State Treasurer may, in his dis-
cretion, immediately demand of such bank a new bond with
good and sufficient surety or sureties; if such bank shall not
within thirty days after service of notice upon it by the State
Treasurer furnish new bond with good and sufficient surety
or sureties to be approved by the Governor, it shall be the
duty of the State Treasurer to immediately withdraw all
moneys of the State deposited with the said bank. Upon
the approval and acceptance by the Governor of the above
mentioned new bond, and upon the payment of all moneys
then due by such bank to the State, the petitioning surety
or sureties shall be released from any further liability on
the bond executed by him, it or them.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 454.
AN ACT to add four new sections to Article 23 of the Code
of Public General Laws of 1904, title " Corporations,"
sub-title " Railroad Companies," to come in immediately
after Section 300, and to be designated " Sections 300 A,
300 B, 300 C, 300 D," providing that the hours of service
of certain employees engaged in operating any railroad in
the State shall be limited to not more than eight hours in
any twenty-four consecutive hours.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That four new sections be added to Article 23 of the

Code of Public General Laws of the State of Maryland of
1904, title "Corporations," sub-title " Railroad Companies,"
to be known as Sections 300 A, 300 B, 300 C and 300 D," and
to read as follows :
Section 300 A. That it shall be unlawful for any person, cor-
poration or association operating a railroad within this State
to permit any telegraph or telephone operator who spaces
