said levy to be designated on the records of the office of
County Commissioners, and on the face of said bonds as
the jail building fund; said bonds shall also have imprinted
on them a distinct reference to the Act directing their issue.
SEC. 5. And be it further enacted, That the bonds author-

ized by this Act shall be exempt from all taxation what-
soever, and the interest on said bonds shall be receivable in
payment of county taxes.
SEC. 6. And be it further enacted, That the County Com-
missioners of Caroline county be and they are hereby

authorized, empowered and directed to build the new jail
for said county on any public ground in said county, or in
any other more eligible or convenient location which the
said commissioners may select, in such manner and style
and upon such place as the said commissioners may select,
in such manner and style and upon such place as the said
commissioners elect. And the said commissioners shall
have power and authority to contract with, purchase or
acquire from any owner any land or other property, for the
purpose of erection of said jail; but if the said commis-
sioners cannot agree with the owner or owners of any land
or other property necessary for the purposes herein men-
tioned, or if such owner or owners, or any of them be under
age, non compos mentis, or absent from the county, or under
any other legal disability whatsoever, the said County Com-
missioners may proceed to condemn and acquire the same,
in the manner provided for condemnation of property by
corporations in Sections 360 to 365, both inclusive, of Article
23 of the Code of Public General Laws of Maryland.
SEC. 7. And be it further enacted, That the said County

Commissioners are hereby authorized and directed to tear
down and remove or otherwise dispose of the present jail of
said county, if its existence shall in any manner hinder or
impede tlie construction of the new jail, and provide tempo-
rarily at the expense of said county such accommodation
for the sheriff of said county and the prisoners committed
to his custody as they may deem proper and expedient; but
if the existence of the present jail shall not hinder or
impede the construction of the new jail on the site as
selected by the said County Commissioners, then it shall
not be torn down, removed or otherwise disposed of until
the new jail is completed and ready for use.
