any law of this State to the contrary notwithstanding.

SEC. 10. And be it enacted, That said corporation shall be

subject to the provisions of Chapter 109 of the Acts of the
General Assembly of 1892 and any supplements thereto
and amendments thereof, and the liability of the stockholders
thereof shall be as prescribed in Article 3, Section 39, of the
Constitution of this State.

SEC. 11. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 425.

AN ACT to authorize the County Commissioners of Caroline
County to build a jail in said county, to borrow money
for that purpose, to issue bonds for the payment of the
same, and to levy taxes on the assessable property in
said county to reclaim said bonds, and to pay the interest
thereon.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the County Commissioners of Caroline county be

and they are hereby authorized, empowered and directed to
contract for, to build, to equip and to furnish a jail in Caro-
line county, and to superintend the building thereof, in such
manner as said commissioners may deem proper, and for
the purpose of paying for the construction and furnishing
of said jail. The said County Commissioners are hereby
authorized and directed to borrow on the credit of said
county such sum or sums of money as may be necessary;
not exceeding in all the sum of twelve thousand dollars, and
to issue bonds or coupon bonds therefor in sums of not less
than one hundred dollars nor more than one thousand
dollars, to be signed by the president of the board of said
commissioners, to be attested by the clerk of said commis-
sioners and to have the corporate seal of said commissioners
affixed thereto, bearing interest not exceeding four and one-
half per centum per annum, payable semi-annually on the
first day of January and the first day of July in each and
every year thereafter and until the same are paid.
