property within the limits of said town who may be absent
therefrom, or a non-resident thereof, or upon whom, for any
other reason, personal service cannot be had, and the
marshal shall make return to that effect, service of notice or
process made may be made by publication of said notice or
process once a week, for three consecutive weeks, in some
newspaper published in Montgomery county, which said
notice by publication shall be as good and effectual as
personal service. The affidavits of the publisher or pro-
prietor of said newspaper as to such publication shall be
evidence of the fact thereof.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 385.
AN ACT to authorize the County Commissioners of Harford
County to levy annually a slim of money for the support
of John E. Botts of said County.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the County Commissioners of Harford county be

Levy a sum of
money.

and they are hereby authorized and directed to levy annually
a sum of money not less than fifty nor more than seventy-five
dollars for the support of John E. Botts of said county and
they, the said County Commissioners, are hereby directed to
pay the sum so levied to the said John E. Botts annually.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

AN ACT to further amend and alter the Charter of the
Susquehanna Power Company.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-

land, That the charter of the Susquehanna Power Company,
a corporation duly organized, existing and in operation
under and in accordance with the laws of Maryland, be and
the same is hereby further amended and altered as herein
stated and set forth.
