ment of all corporation cases tried before him, with the fines
and costs therein collected, which statement shall be sub-
mitted semi-annually to the burgess and commissioners after
being sworn to before a justice of the peace, and he shall
pay over to the treasurer of the town of Hancock, annually,
all fines collected by him; all stationery supplies used by
said police justice in the town business shall be furnished
him by the burgess and commissioners.
Section 241. The said police justice shall be allowed the

same costs and fees for his services as police justice as are
allowed justices of the peace for a similar service.
Section 241 A. All fines and forfeitures imposed by the

ordinance of the corporation shall be recoverable before the
said police justice, but no fine or forfeiture imposed under
any ordinance of said corporation shall exceed the sum of
fifteen dollars.
Section 241 B. From any judgment rendered by the said
police justice in the enforcement of the ordinance of the

town of Hancock an appeal shall lie by the person aggrieved
to the Circuit Court for Washington county; provided, the
appeal is taken within three days after the rendering of the
judgment, and provided the person so aggrieved shall enter
into good and sufficient bond, approved by the said police
justice, for the faithful prosecution of the appeal, and for the
payment of all costs in case the judgment be affirmed; but
no appeal shall stay process or execution upon judgment
unless a bond is given as above provided.
Section 241 C. If the police justice wilfully neglects any

duties imposed upon him by the provisions of this charter,
or refuses to pay over the fines collected by him as herein
directed, he shall be liable to indictment in the Circuit Court
for Washington county, and upon conviction shall be fined
the sum of fifty dollars or imprisonment in the county jail
for a term not exceeding three months, or both, in the dis-
cretion of the court.
Section 241 D. The burgess and commissioners are hereby

empowered to erect a lockup for the confinement of persons
arrested for violating any town ordinance, or for the non-pay-
ment of any fine imposed under the provisions of this charter.
Section 241 E. All property within the limits of the cor-
poration of Hancock, or what may have situs there by
