INFECTIOUS DISEASES.

CHAP. 262

To authorize the removal or confinement of persons having
infectious or pestilential diseases.

RINGING OF BELLS, WHISTLES, ETC.

To regulate the ringing of bells, crying of goods or sound-
ing of whistles.
WATER SUPPLY.

To pass all ordinances and orders, and to expend such
sums of money as may be necessary, within the limitations
herein provided, for the protection, maintenance, preservation
of the water supply of the city and the prevention of the
pollution thereof.

RECORD OF BIRTHS AND DEATHS.

To regulate and require reports and records of births and
deaths and to make such requirements as may be deemed
necessary to prevent the spread of infectious and contagious
deseases.
INSPECTION OF MEATS, ETC.

To authorize and require the inspection and condemnation
of unwholesome, and require the sale of meats, poultry; fish,
butter, oleomargarine, cheese, lard, vegetables and all other
food or provisions.

INSPECTION OF STEAM BOILERS.

To authorize and require the inspection and licensing of
steam boilers and elevators, and to prohibit their use, when
unsafe, or dangerous or without license.

FIRE LIMITS AND BUILDING PERMITS.

To define the fire limits in said city, and the character of
buildings which are prohibited to be erected within such
limits, and to prohibit the erection of buildings in said city
without a license first obtained therefor, and to regulate the
construction of buildings to prevent the spread of fire.

CONDEMNATION OF BUILDINGS.

To authorize and require the inspection of buildings and
structures erected to be erected or in the process of erection ;
to authorize a license therefor to be revoked and the condem-
nation thereof, in whole or part when dangerous or insecure
in the opinion of the building committee or such party as
