CHAP. 170

SEC. 12. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage, except that licenses now in
force shall be operative to the date of their expiration; and

Effective.

if the majority of the votes east at said election be against
license, then all Acts or parts of Acts referring to the town
of Laurel, inconsistent with the provisions of this Act,
shall be deemed to be repealed, and if the vote be a tie;
another election shall be held within fifteen days, and notice
at once shall be given by the Mayor of said town.

CHAPTER 171.

AN ACT to repeal Sections 62 and 63 of Article 16 of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, title " Mont-
gomery County," sub-title "County Commissioners," and
sections 64 and 219 of said Article, as repealed and
re-enacted by the Act of 1892, Chapter 418, and Sections
218 and 220 to 227, inclusive, of said Article, as enacted
by the Act of 1900, Chapter 102, and to re-enact said
Section 62, providing for the appointment of a Clerk to
the County Commissioners of said county, who shall be
ex-officio Collector of Taxes and Treasurer of said county,
and for the collection of State and county taxes therein.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Sections 62 and 63 of Article 16 of the Code of

Repealed.

Public Local Laws of this State, title "Montgomery County,"
sub-title "County Commissioners," and Section 64 of said
Article, as repealed and re-enacted by the Act of 1892,
Chapter 418, and Sections 218 and 220 to 227, inclusive, of
said Article, as enacted by the Act of 1900, Chapter 102, be
and the same are hereby repealed.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That said Section 62 of said

Re-enact.

Article be and the same is hereby re-enacted, so as to read as
follows :
62. They shall appoint a clerk, who shall be ex-officio

county; and for his services as such he shall receive a salary
