and to place all the public roads in said Allegany county
under the control of the road directory to be created by
this Act, be and they are hereby repealed, and said Sections
216 and 216 D both are hereby re-enacted with amendments,
to read as follows :
216. Each road director shall be entitled to receive $400
|

Expenses paid
|
per annum to cover his personal expenses, and said directors
shall be subject to removal for neglect or refusal to comply
with the duties of their office by the Governor of the State ;
and if any of the directors shall resign or be removed, his
place shall be filled by appointment by the remaining direc-
tors within thirty days after any vacancy shall occur, and
he shall be of the same political faith as his predecessor ;
and two directors shall always be of different political faith
from that of the other two.
216 D. The Allegany county roads engineer shall receive a

Salary.
|
salary of eighteen hundred dollars annually, in monthly
instalments, and a sum not to exceed $200 per annum for
traveling expenses ; and the minimum wages of labor on said
roads shall be one dollar and seventy-five cents per day for
adult workmen ; and all wages shall be determined by the
directors.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 825.
AN ACT to prohibit the use of patent tongs for taking or
catching oysters from the waters of the tributaries of the
Potomac river, in Saint Mary's County.
SECTION 1. And be it enacted by the General Assembly of

Maryland, That it shall be unlawful for any person or persons
to use patent tongs for taking or catching oysters from the
waters of the tributaries of the Potomac river, in Saint
Mary's county.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That any person or persons
|

Penalty.
|
violating any of the provisions of Section 1 of this Act,
upon conviction thereof before any justice of the peace, in
the county where the offense is committed, shall be fined
not less than ten dollars and costs, nor more than fifty
|
|
|
|
