of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof, shall be
subject to a fine not less than five or more than twenty-five
dollars ($25.00), and shall stand committed until fine and
costs are paid.
SEC. 2. And be it farther enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 98.
AN ACT to repeal Section 10 of Article 68 of the Code of
Public General Laws of Maryland, title "Notaries
Public," and to re-enact the same with amendments.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-

General Laws of Maryland, title " Notaries Public," be and
the same is hereby repealed and re-enacted with amend-
ments, so as to read as follows :
Fifteen women, in all other respects qualified, and no
more, shall be eligible as Notaries Public in the city of Bal-

timore, and five women, in other respects qualified, and no
more, shall be eligible as a Notary Public in each of the
counties of the State; provided, that the provisions of this
section shall not apply to Washington county.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 99.
AN ACT to appropriate certain sums of money to the Balti-
more Sun and other newspapers, in payment of the cost
of publishing the Governor's Proclamation relating to the
proposed Constitutional amendments authorized to be sub-
mitted to the vote of the people by the General Assembly
of 1904.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the Comptroller of the Treasury be and is
hereby authorized and directed to draw his warrants upon
the Treasurer of the State, as follows: To the Baltimore
