the year nineteen hundred and one; the said inability of said
county has been subject to large expenses in the erection of
school houses, and the fact that the small population is scat-
tered over a large extent of territory, creating a large number
of school houses for the number of pupils required to be
taught therein ; therefore,

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the Comptroller be and he is hereby directed
to issue his warrant upon the Treasurer of the State in favor

county for the sum of nineteen hundred and fifty-two dollars
and fifty-six cents; said sum, in addition to the amount to
which said county is entitled to receive, to be paid out of the
public school funds of the State under existing laws

its proper proportion of the said school tax for the year nine-
teen hundred and two, known as the March instalment of said
school tax, to be made by the Comptroller in pursuance of
law, on the fifteenth day of March in each year, in the same
manner as if the schools of Garrett county had been kept
open seven and one-half months in the year ending December
31, nineteen hundred and two.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the said Board of School
Commissioners shall apply the said sums so received by the

applied under the provisions of the existing laws of this State.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That this Act 'shall take effect
