CHAP. 452.

CHAPTER 452.
AN ACT to repeal Section 21 of Article 10 of the Code of
Public General Laws, entitled "Attorneys," sub-title
" State's Attorneys," so far as the same applies to Anne
Arundel County, and to add and re-enaet in lieu thereof
an additional Section to the Public Local Laws, Article
2, title "Anne Arundel County," providing a paid salary
for the State's Attorney, and abolishing compensation by
fees.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland. That section 21 of Article 10 of the Code of
Public General Laws, be and the same is hereby repealed so
far as the same applies to Anne Arundel county and no
further, and that an additional section be and the same is
hereby enacted and added to Article 2 of the Code of Public
Local Laws, title "Anne Arundel County," sub-title "State's
Attorney," to read as follows :

Salary.

SEC. 2. That on and after the expiration of the terra of
office of the present State's Attorney of Anne Arundel
county, in lieu of the fees now paid him for the discharge
of the duties of his office, there shall be paid to him by the
County Commissioners of said county a yearly salary of
eighteen hundred dollars, payable quarterly, by order of the
treasurer, and it shall be unlawful for him to receive, or the
said County Commissioners to pay him any other or further
compensation, salary, fee or recompense of any kind what-
soever.

SEC. 3. It shall be the duty of the sheriff to collect and
pay over to the County Commissioners quarterly any appear-
ance or other fee taxed as part of the costs payable to the
State's Attorney in any criminal case.
SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 453.
AN ACT to repeal Code, Section 840 of the Acts of 1S98,
Chapter 123, known as the "City Charter," and re-enact the
same with amendments.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Code, section 840 of the Acts of 1898, Chap-
ter 123, known as the "City Charter," be and the same is
