the Code of Public Local Laws, title "Allegany County,"
sub-title "County Treasurer," and Sections 39 and 41 of
said Article 1 of the Public Local Laws, as enacted by
Chapter 516 of the Acts of 1898, and also to repeal Sec-
tions 42 and 43 of said Article 1 of the Code of Public
Local Laws, title "Allegany County," sub-title "County
Tax Collectors," and Section 42 A, as enacted by Chapter
534 of the Act of 1900, and Chapter 613 of the Acts of
1900, and to repeal Sections 42, 42 A, 42 B and 42 o of said
Article 1, as enacted by Chapter 179 of the Acts of 1898,
and to amend said Sections under the title "County Treas-
urer and Taxes" by re-enacting said Sections, to be known
as Sections 39, 40, 41, 42, 43, 43 A, 43 B, 43 o, 43 D, 43 B,
43 F, 43 G, 43 H, 43 1, 43 j, 43 x, 43 L.

CHAP. 418

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the
State of Maryland, That sections 39, 40, 41, 42 and 43 of Arti-
cle number 1 of the Code of Public Local Laws, title "Allegany
County," sub-title "County Treasurer and Tax Collector,"
and sections 39 and 41 of said Article 1, as enacted by chapter
576 of the Acts of 1900, and chapter 613 of the Acts of 1900.
and sections 42, 42 A, 42 B and 42 C of said Article 1, as
enacted by chapter 179 of the Acts of 1898, be and the same
are hereby severally and collectively repealed and re-enacted,
to be known as sections 39, 40, 41, 42, 43, 43 A, 43 B, 43 C,
43 D, 43 E, 43 F, 43 G, 43 H, 48 I, 43 J, 43 K, 43 L, respectively,
under the title "County Treasurer and Taxes," and that said
sections be and the same are hereby added to Article one of
the Public Local Laws, title "Allegany County," so as to read
as follows :

Repeal
and re-enact.

Section 39. At the general ejection for county officers for
Allegany County to be held in said county in November,
nineteen hundred and three, and every two years thereafter, a
county treasurer shall be elected by the qualified voters of
said county, who shall hold the office of treasurer , for a term
of two years from the time of his election and qualification,
beginning upon the expiration of the respective terms of the
present tax collectors elected in the year 1901, or until his
successor is elected and qualified, and the treasurer so elected
shall be ineligible for re-election to said office for two years
thereafter, and shall be subject to removal from his said office
for any wilful neglect of duty or misbehavior in office at any
time by the County Commissioners of said county ; the said
treasurer so elected shall give bond as directed in section forty-
one of this Article, and said treasurer, before proceeding to exer-
