CHAP. 262.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 262.
AN ACT to amend the Charter of the Provident Savings
Bank of Baltimore.

Preamble.

WHEREAS, The Provident Savings Bank of Baltimore is
proposing to build a fire-proof and burglar-proof steel vault,
in which it desires not only to keep its own funds and securi-
ties, but also boxes and other receptacles to be rented to its
depositors and others for the keeping of valuable articles, and
a doubt has arisen whether, under the terms of its charter, it
can do so without special and additional authority, to confer
which this amendment is made,

New section
added.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That chapter 145 of the Acts of the General
Assembly of Maryland, passed at its January Session in the
year eighteen hundred and eighty-six, entitled "An Act to
incorporate the Provident Savings Bank of Baltimore," as
amended by chapters 69 and 245 of the Act of said General
Assembly, passed at its January Session in the year eighteen
hundred and eighty-eight, be and the same is hereby amended
by adding to said Act a new section to be known as section 2 A,
to follow immediately after section 2 of said Act, and to read
as follows :

Vault to be
built.

Section 2 A. And be it enacted, That the said corporation
shall have the power to build a vault for the protection of its
deposits and other valuable assets in any building occupied by
it for its business purposes, and to rent out to its depositors
and others boxes and other receptacles in said vault for the
keeping of securities, papers and valuable articles.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.
Approved April 8, 1902.

CHAPTER 263.

AN ACT to cede the Jurisdiction of the State of Maryland
to the United States of America over so much land as has
been or may be hereafter acquired for the Public Purposes
of the United States.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted, That the jurisdiction of the State
of Maryland is hereby ceded to the United States of America
