State, at which said election, the ballots to be cast shall be
printed upon the regular ballot sheet, at said election, the
words "For License" or "Against License," shall be printed in
separate columns and the ballots so cast shall be received by
the judges of the election and deposited in the regular box pro-
vided by said sheriff and counted by them, who shall within
three days thereafter make a written return of the same under
their hands, seals, and of the number of ballots so cast, "for or
against license," to the clerk of the Circuit Court for said
county, who shall record the same; and it shall be the duty of
said clerk, within ten days after said election, to cause to be
printed and published in one or more newspapers published in
said county, once a week for two successive weeks, a proclama-
tion of the result of such election in each of said districts of
the county aforesaid.

Conduct of
election.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That if it shall be found at
such election, and proclaimed by the said clerk of court, that
a majority of the qualified votes have been cast "for license"
in any of the said election districts, wherein the sale of liquors
or other fermented spirits is now prohibited by law, immedi-
ately after the proclamation by the said clerk of the results of
said election, such prohibition shall be and is hereby removed,
and any and every person may proceed to sell liquor or other
fermented spirits in such election district upon obtaining
license therefor, as is now or hereafter may be provided by
Public General or Public Local Law.

When sale of
liquor lawful.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That if it shall be found at such
election, and proclaimed by the clerk of court, that a majority
of the qualified votes have been cast "against license" in any
of said election districts wherein the sale of liquor or other
fermented spirits is now licensed by law, it shall not be lawful
for any person or persons, firm, company or body corporate on
and after the first day of May in the year succeeding said
election, to sell or otherwise dispose of, by way of barter,
directly or indirectly, any spirituous, fermented or other intoxi-
cating liquors or medicated bitters, producing intoxication, or
any compound of which alcohol forms the chief or a principal
ingredient, or for any license to be issued or granted for the
sale of the same in any such election district of the county
aforesaid; provided, that nothing herein contained shall be
construed to prevent the compounding or sale of any such
liquor by a regular pharmacist or druggist now having a license
for such business under the law of this State, upon the written
bona fide prescription of a regular practicing physician of such
