CHAPTER 443.
AN ACT to repeal Sections seventeen and eighteen of
Article six of the Code of Public Local Laws, title " Caro-
line County," sub-title "Almshouse," and re-enact the same
with amendments.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That sections seventeen and eighteen of Article six of
the Code of Public Local Laws, title " Caroline County," sub-
title "Almshouse," be and the same are hereby repealed and
re-enacted, so as to read as follows :

Repeal.

17. The overseer shall keep a list of all poor beggars, vag-
rants, vagabonds and other offenders placed in or committed
to the almshouse, and he- shall also keep a list of all persons
other than his own family, the necessary employees, physi-
cians, chaplain and trustees, who for any cause and at any time
shall eat a meal or meals at said almshouse, which said list
shall be open to inspection by any taxpayer who shall desire
to examine the same, and shall publish the same income news-
paper published in Caroline county when ordered "so to do by
the trustees.

18. He shall keep an account of all moneys and materials
coming to his hands, and of expenses attending the support of
the inmates of the almshouse, and lay the same, under oath,
before the trustees, as often as required, but the said overseer
shall have no power or authority to purchase anything what-
soever upon the faith or credit of the trustees of the poor of
Caroline county, except medicine for the inmates, except upon
the written order of the said trustees.

SEC. 2. Be it enacted, That this act shall take effect from
the date of its passage.
Approved April 4, 1896.

Effective.

CHAPTER 444.

AN ACT authorizing the town of Laurel to issue refunding
bonds in place of the bonds authorized by Sections 246 L and
246 M of Article 17, of the Code of Local Laws of Mary-
land, entitled "Prince George's County," sub title "Laurel,"
providing for the improvement and repair of the streets of
Laurel, Maryland, and authorizing the issuance of bonds for
that purpose.
