LAWS OF MARYLAND.

By-laws.

SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That the president and directors
of the corporation hereby created, shall have power to enact
and adopt such rules, regulations and by-laws for the govern-
ment and management of the affairs of said corporation, as
they may deem advantageous to the interests thereof.

May receive
deposits of
money, etc.

SEC. 7. And be it enacted, That the said corporation shall
have power to receive deposits of money, securities and other
personal property from any person or public or private corpo-
ration, upon such terms as may be agreed upon; and to loan
money on real or personal security; to deal in exchange,
foreign and domestic, and in any or all kinds of property, per-
sonal effects, securities, mortgages, lands, certificates of in-
debtedness, stocks of incorporated companies, notes, loans or
bonds of the United States or of any State, city, county or
municipality or of any incorporated company, or of any indi-
vidual , provided, that no loan shall be made directly or
indirectly to any officer or employee of said corporation; and
for any violation of this provision, the party or parties consent-
ing thereto, directly or indirectly, shall be liable to said corpo-
ration for the amount so loaned and all losses or expenses
that may result therefrom.

Deposits by
courts.

SEC. 8. And be it enacted, That any and every Court into
which moneys may be paid or deposited by agreement of par-
ties, order, judgment or decree of such Court, may order and
direct the same to be deposited with said company; and any
individual or administrator, executor, guardian, committee,
receiver, assignee, trustee, State, county or municipal govern-
ment, or corporation, or public officer, or any person or per-
sons, acting for others, having the custody of any bonds,
stocks, securities, moneys or valuables shall be authorized to
deposit the same for safe keeping with the said company.

May endorse
notes, etc.

SEC. 9. And be it enacted, That the said corporation shall
have power to guarantee, endorse and secure the payment and
collection of notes, debts, bills of exchange, contracts, bonds,
mortgages, evidences of debt, certificates of property, checks
and the titles to property, real or personal indebtedness of in-
dividuals, of companies, partnerships, contracts, loans of States,
cities, counties or municipalities, upon such terms or commis-
sions as may be agreed upon.

SEC. 10. And be it enacted, That the said company may
receive upon storage, deposit or otherwise, merchandise, gold,
silver or paper money, bullion, jewels, plate, certificates of
stock, bonds, deeds, mortgages, promissory notes or other secur-
ities and all other kinds of personal property and advance
