use and advantage of its members the Volunteer Firemen of
Maryland, who may be injured while in the discharge of their
duty as firemen, and to the families of volunteer firemen who
may be killed while in the discharge of their duty as firemen,
that the Treasurer, on the warrant of the Comptroller, be and
he is hereby authorized and directed to issue his warrant for
sums not to exceed in all one thousand dollars, for the year
eighteen hundred and ninety-six, and for sums not to exceed in
all one thousand dollars, for the year eighteen hundred and
ninety seven, or so much thereof as may be necessary, out of
any money not otherwise appropriated, payable to the Treas-
urer of the Maryland State Firemen's Association, a body
corporate, chartered by an act of the General Assembly, session
of 1894; provided, the said Maryland State Firemen's Asso-
ciation, a body corporate, as aforesaid, shall comply with the
provisions of the following section.

Conditions of

SEC. 2. And be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the Comptroller shall issue his warrant upon
the Treasurer for such sum or sums as may be provided for by
the Constitution and By-laws of said Maryland State Firemen's
Association, a body corporate, as aforesaid, upon the presenta-
tion of an order setting forth the name of the person injured
or killed, the name of the beneficiary, the nature of the injury
and the amount to be paid, said order to be certified to and
endorsed by the president, treasurer, recording secretary and
chairman of the executive committee, of said Maryland State-
Firemen's Association, setting forth the fact of the injury or
death of a member, and certifying that the sum named in said
order is the amount allowed by the Constitution and By-laws
of said Association for such character of injuries; and that
said Association has directed that the sum named in an order,
as aforesaid, be paid; provided, that the Comptroller shall only
pay orders as aforesaid, amounting to the sum of one thousand
dollars, or so much thereof as may be necessary, for the year
1896, and orders amounting to the sum of one thousand dol-
lars, or so much thereof as may be necessary, for the year
1897.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the said treasurer, upon the
compliance of the provisions of the preceding sections, shall
issue his warrant for the sum specified in said order, until the
sum of one thousand dollars, for the year 1896, and one thous-
and dollars for the year 1897, have been paid out, endorsed as
provided for in the previous section, payable to the treasurer
of the Maryland State Firemen's Association, already incorpo-
