deposit all funds received by him for the county, and shall
keep an account thereof (specifying the same for which
received), in some reliable banking institution, and shall pay
bills due by the county, only by check on the same, of which
he shall keep an account specifying briefly the purpose for
which paid and the person to whom paid.

222. The collectors shall pay over to the treasurer of the
county within five days after the last of every month, all
moneys collected by them during said month just passed, and
any failure to comply with said requirements shall subject the
collector so failing to a loss of the discount allowed during said
month.

223. Each collector may receive any part of the levy list
on payment of taxes at any time subject to the same rate of
discount that he is directed to allow on taxes paid.

224. All documents and papers belonging to the office of
any collector, are hereby declared the property of Somerset
county, and at all times shall be subject to the examination of
the County Commissioners.

225. The bond of any collector failing to comply with the
preceding sections shall be put in suit by the County Commis-
sioners at the January term of the Circuit Court for Somerset
county, next after the first day of June on which said taxes
become due and payable, and no postponement of said action
shall, for any cause, be had for a longer period than one term
of court, and the court shall enter up judgment on production
of the bond or a certified copy thereof for the penalty thereof,
to be released on the payment of whatever sum may be found
to be due from said collector, but the burden of proof shall be
on the collector to show payments made or claimed by him,
otherwise, the whole sum placed in his hands for collection
shall be deemed to be due.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect,
and go into operation and effect, on the thirtieth (30th) day of
June, in the year eighteen hundred and ninety-eight.
