they may deem proper for receiving subscriptions at not less
than the par value and may keep such books open so long as
they deem proper.

Forfeited
shares.
|
SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That if any stockholder shall
refuse or neglect to subscribe for his proportion of any of the
additional shares hereby authorized, or if any subscriber to
any of the additional shares hereby authorized shall refuse or
neglect to pay for the same according to the terms of his sub-
scription, which terms the said president and directors are
hereby authorized to prescribe, then the said president and
directors shall have power to declare such shares forfeited, or
they may hold the original subscriber liable for the full
amount of his subscription, as they may deem best. In the
event of forfeiture of such shares after partial payment has
been made upon them, the amount so paid shall be returned to
the defaulting subscriber; and the said president and directors
may take new subscriptions for such shares so forfeited under
such conditions as they may prescribe.

Effective.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect
from and immediately after the date of its passage; but the
General Assembly reserves the right to alter, amend or repeal
this act at pleasure.

CHAPTER 55.
AN ACT to prohibit gunning and fishing in Garrett County,
Maryland, on the Sabbath day.

gunning on
Sunday.
|
SECTION. 1 Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That any person or persons caught fishing, gunning or
hunting in any manner on Sunday, in Garrett county, Mary-
" land, shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon con-
viction thereof shall be fined, for the first offence, not less than
ten nor more than fifty dollars, and for the second offence, not
less than twenty nor more than one hundred dollars.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That it shall be lawful
for a bona fide resident of said county to arrest any person de-
tected in the violation of this act, and arraign said person so
offending before the nearest justice of the peace of said county;
