SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect from

CHAPTER 298.
AN ACT giving the consent of the State of Maryland tc
the acquisition, by purchase or condemnation by United
States, of certain land within this State for fortification
purposes.
WHEREAS, The United States are desirous of procuring cer-
tain parcels or tracts of land at North Point, containing about

twenty-nine acres; at Rock Point, containing about one hun-
dred acres; and at Hawkins' Point, containing thirteen acres
all in the State of Maryland, for the public use in erecting
fortifications for the defense of Baltimore; and,

WHEREAS, The consent of the Legislature of the State tc
such purchase is necessary before any money can be expended
on said lands.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the
State of Maryland, That the consent of the State be and tht
same is hereby given to the acquisition by the United States
of such parcels or tracts of land, either by purchase or com-
damnation, for the purposes of fortifications, as set forth in
the above preamble.
