Effective.

SEC. 21. And be it further enacted, That this act shall not
go into operation so as to authorize the execution of any policy
or contract of insurance by said company, until there shall be
entered upon the books thereof, property of the standard value
of thirty thousand dollars, but shall in all other respects take
effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 280.
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact wibh amendments Sections 12
and 12 A of Article 48 of the Code of Public General Laws,
title " Inspectors," sub-title " Tobacco," as said sections were
enacted by Chapter 41 of the Acts of 1892.

Repeal.
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That sections 12 and 12 A of article 48 of the Code of
Public General Laws, title " Inspectors," sub-title " Tobacco,"
as said sections were enacted by chapter 41 of the acts of 1892,
be, and the same are hereby repealed and re-enacted with amend-
ments, so as to read as follows :

Consolidation
of tobacco
ware-
houses.
|
12. Warehouses Nos. 1 and 2 shall be consolidated under one
management to be known as "No. 1," and Warehouses Nos. 3
and 4 shall be consolidated in like manner to be known as " No.
3" (except in the case hereinafter provided for), and No. 5
shall remain as at present, and the inspectors of such warehouses
shall cause the tobacco therein to be inspected under their per-
sonal supervision as before required; when, however, Ware-
houses Nos. 1, 3 and 5 shall become so filled with tobacco as to
render the operations thereof difficult, or there is a prospect of
such crops of tobacco as will overcrowd the same, the inspect-
ors shall report the facts to the Governor of the State, and if it
shall appear to. the Governor that the necessities of the case
require it, he shall appoint additional inspectors for Warehouses
Nos. 2 and 4, or for only one of them, as his judgment may
dictate; and such inspector or inspectors shall appoint the nec-
essary clerks, screwmen and laborers to conduct the business
thereof, and such clerks, screwmen and laborers shall be under
the supervision and direction of the inspector or inspectors so
appointed in all respects as in Warehouses Nos. 1, 3 and 5.
