SECTION I. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That sections 51 and 61 of Article 17 of the Code of
Public Local Laws, title " Prince George's County," sub-title
"Bladensburg," be and the same are hereby repealed and
re-enacted with amendments, so as to read as follows:

Repeal.


51. The commissioners may annually appoint a bailiff, who,
before entering upon his duties shall make oath before a jus-
tice of the peace of said county, that he will faithfully and
impartially perform the duties required of him as bailiff of
eaid village, according to the best of his skill and judgment,
and who shall also give bond in the sum of fifty dollars for
the faithful performance of his duties, the said bond to be
approved by the said commissioners.

Appointment
of bailiff.

61. They are authorized and empowered to .levy annually
such taxes upon the assessable property within said corpora-
tion as may seem to them necessary; provided, that the
amount of taxes levied for any one year shall not exceed
thirty cents on the one hundred dollars, which taxes shall be
collected by a collector, appointed by the commissioners; the
levy shall be made on or before the thirty-first day of May
for each year, and all taxes so levied shall be a lien on any
and all property of the person against whom they may be
levied; if any of said taxes shall remain unpaid after the first
day of August next succeeding the date of their levy, the said
collector may proceed to collect the same by way of distress
and execution in the same manner as is prescribed by sections
forty-nine to sixty-three, inclusive, of Article eighty-one of the
Code of Public General Laws of the State of Maryland.

Levy of taxes.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 38.

AN ACT to repeal Section 114 of Article 16, of the Code oi
Public General Laws, and to re-enact the same with amend
ments.

Effective.


SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary
land, That section 114 of Article 16, of the Code of Public
General Laws, title "Chancery," sub-title "Non-Residents," be
and the same is hereby repealed and re-enacted so as to read a
follows :
