LAWS OF MARYLAND.

Tax to pay
interest and
principal.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the County Commissioners
of Kent county shall, in each and every year, levy upon the
assessable property in Kent county, such sums of money as
may be necessary to pay the interest on the said bonds as said
interest shall become due, and also to levy such sums in addi-
tion as may be required to pay or redeem said bonds as the
same mature, from time to time, until all said bonds shall have
been paid.

Application
of proceeds.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That the proceeds of the sale
of the said bonds shall be used and applied exclusively in the
purchase of a suitable site and in the building of a public
school house in Chestertown; and said proceeds shall be paid
over to the county treasurer, who shall hold and pay out the
same upon the order of the School Commissioners of Kent
county for the purpose mentioned in this act.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That immediately after the
County Commissioners of Kent county shall make sale of the
bonds provided for by this act, the Board of County School
Commissioners shall proceed to procure a proper site and plans
for the building of said school house. And after the secure-
ment and adoption of proper plans and specifications, said
school commissioners shall advertise at least once a week, for
four successive weeks, in at least two newspapers, for bids for
the construction of said school house, and they shall award
the contract to the lowest responsible bidder, who will enter
into contract and execute a sufficient bond, with approved
security, for the erection and completion of said school
house.

white and
colored
children.

SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That upon the completion of the
school house provided for in this act, the Board of County
School Commissioners are directed to devote the same to the
use of the white children of Chestertown, and that school dis-
trict; and they shall devote to the use of the colored children of
Chestertown, and the school district in which said town is loca-
ted, the buildings and premises in said town which are now used
for the white children of said town.

Effective.

SEC. 7. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.
