suit, and in default of payment shall be committed to the jail
of the said county for five days; and if the bailiff shall receive
any substitute, who is not of the required age, under the pre-
ceding section, or shall fail to post the said notice, he shall be
fined not less than five nor more than twenty dollars.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect on
and after the first day of May, in the year 1896.

CHAPTER 182.

AN ACT to appropriate a sum of money for the purpose oi
making repairs and additions to the furniture of, and
procuring articles necessary for the use of the Executive
Mansion.

Effective.


SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the sum of five thousand dollars, or so much
thereof as may be required, be and is hereby appropriated for
the purpose of making repairs and additions to the furniture
of, and for procuring articles necessary for the use of the
Executive Mansion.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That His Excellency Lloyd
Lowndes, Governor of this State, be and is hereby authorized
to have such repairs and additions made, and to procure such
articles as he may deem necessary for the use of the Executive
Mansion; and the Comptroller is hereby directed to issue his
warrant upon the Treasurer for such amount as the Governor
may require; provided, that the said sum shall not exceed in
the aggregate the sum of five thousand dollars, and the Gover-
nor shall make return to the Comptroller of the amount
expended, together with the vouchers for the same.


Disbursement
by Governor.


SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

Approved April 2d, 1896.
