LAWS OF MARYLAND.

and ninety-seven, for the maintenance of the Maryland Lying-
in-Hospital of Baltimore city; and the Comptroller of the
State is hereby authorized and directed to issue his warrant upon
the Treasurer of the State for the said amounts hereby appro-
priated, payable in semi-annual instalments on the first days of
June and December in each of said years, to be paid to the
authorized agent of the Maryland Lying-in-Hospital of Balti-
more city, in payment for the maintenance of free treatment
of indigent lying-in-women in said hospital; it being provided
and stipulated that before the payment of any sum of money
appropriated by this act, the president of the said hospital shall
furnish to the Comptroller a statement and certificate that the
provisions of this act have been complied with.

Effective.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 149.

AN ACT to prohibit the sale of Intoxicating Liquors at
Chase's Station, Baltimore County, Maryland, or within a
radius of two miles thereof.

Where liqnor
shall not be
sold.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That it shall not be lawful to sell spirituous or intoxicat-
ing liquors at Chase's Station, P., W. & B. R. R., Baltimore
county, Maryland, or within a radius of two miles of the said
station.

Penalty.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That any person or per-
sons, or corporation, who may violate the provisions of this act,
shall, upon conviction thereof, be subject to a fine of not less
than fifty dollars nor more than five hundred dollars, or im-
prisonment in the county jail for not less than thirty days nor
more than one year, or to both such fine and imprisonment, in
the discretion of the court.

Effective.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.
