CHAP. 89.

ing the same to an Academy in Denton, would be, found more
useful and promote learning and education to a greater ex-
tent than it now does by employing the whole at Hillsborough
school in the county afoiesaid — Thcr«fore,

SECTION 1. Be h enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That it shall and may be lawful for the treasurer of the
western shore, annually hereafter on the first Monday in Oc-
tober, to pay over unto the trustees of the Denton academy
hereinafter named, or a majority of them, and their succes-
sors, the sum of two hundred and fifty dollars, to be used by
them for the purpose oi education in Denton, and that the re-
maining two hundred and fifty dollars shall be paid over to
the trustees of the Hillsborough school, or their order, for
the purpose of educauon in Hilfsborough as heretofore.

SEC, 2. And be it enacted, That Joseph Richardson, Doc-
tor Charles Diden, Doctor George T. Martin, James Sangs-
ton, Edward B. Hardcastle, Joseph P. W. Richardson and
Robert T Keene, b , and the same are hereby constituted
and appointed a board of trustees for a school or academy, to
be established in Denton in Caroline county aforesaid, to be
called and known by the name of the Denton Academy, and
that the said trustees, or a majority of them or their succes-
sors hereafter to be appointed by virtue of this act, shall have
full power to manage the affairs of said school.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the said trustees shall here-
after be considered a corporate body, and that they have pow-
er to make by-laws for their government, apd to alter and
change the same from time to time, as they may find conve-
nient; to make a common seal for their use, and to alter and
change the same at pleasure; and that the said trustees, or a
majority of them, are hereby authorised and required from

time to time as often as any vacancy shall happen in their
board by death or otherwise to fill up said vacancy with some
suitable person or persons, residing in the said county.

SEC. 4, And be it enacted, That the said trustees and their
successors, shall be capable in law, to sue and be sued, to
plead and be impleaded in their corporate capacity for any
matter or cause of action under the laws of this state.

An act to authorise George Parker, senior, of Somerset Coun-
ty, to remove a negro boy, from the state of Delaware to this
state

Privilege granted

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
George Parker, senior, of Somerset county, is hereby autho-
rised and empowered to import and bring into this state from
the state of Delaware, his negro slave named Isaac, and dis-
pose of said negro without incurring the penalties of the lairs
now existing.
