CHAP 187,

and finished within six years thereafter, this act, and all the
rights and privileges which it confers on said company, shall

An act to abolish certain offices therein mentioned and for other
purposes.

Auditor General's
to be abolished.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That resolution number one, passed at March session,
seventeen hundred and seventy eight, so far as the same re-
lates to the creation of an officer, to be styled the auditor
general, be, and the same is hereby repealed, and the office of
auditor general be, and the same is hereby abrogated, abolish-

ed and annulled, and the auditor general be, and he is here-
by directed, authorised and required to deliver over all books,
accounts, records or other papers connected with or having
relation to the duties of his office to the clerk of the council,
who is hereby authorised and required to perform all the
duties, and is vested with all the powers conferred upon or
now exercised by the said auditor general, as the keeper of
the said books, accounts, records or other papers, in giving

SEC. S. And be h enacted, That the act passed at December
session, eighteen hunched and twenty four, chapter one hun-
dred and seventy eight, giving a compensation of five hun-
dred dollars a year to the adjutant general, be, and the same is
hereby repealed.

SEC. 8. And be it enacted, That all such parts of the act
of December session, eighteen hundred and twenty-one, chap-
ter one hundred and ninety, and the act of December session,
eighteen hundred and twenty four, chapter one hundred and
thirty nine, as relates to the appointment of state's agents for

the Eastern and Western Shore, be, and the same is hereby
repealed: Provided, That nothing herein contained shall oper-
ate to lessen or impair the force or obligation of the said acts,
so far as any matter or thing may remain to be executed or
performed in pursuance thereof, or of either or of any part of
either of the said acts.

An act to incorporate the Maryland Company for insurances on
lives, granting annuities, and other purposes.

land, That Luke Tierman, Hugh McElderry, William H.
Marriott, Benjamin I. Cohen and Fielding Lucas, or any
three of them, shall be, and they are hereby constituted and
