former, and the other moiety to the use of the state, to make
presentment or presentments, of any or all, violation or viola-
tions, of any of the orovisions of this act, or of any other of
the laws relating to lotteries, or to the sale of lottery tickets
in this state, that may come to his or their knowledge; and
in all cases where he or they, or either of them may be in-
formed of any breach or violation of the said pro visions or
laws, as aforesaid, or of any of them, it shall be his, or their
duty to have the person or persons, who they or either of
them, shall be informed has any knowledge of such breach or
violation, summoned before the grand jury of the city or coun-
ty court, as the case may be, to testify against the person or
persons so offending.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That before any license shall be
granted, for the sale of lottery tickets, authorised by the laws
of this state, the person or persons applying for the same, un-
der the provisions of this act, or of the existing laws relating
to lotteries, or lottery tickets, in the several counties of this
state, shall pay to the clerk of the county court of the said
county, the sum of fifty dollars,tbr the use of the state, which
said license shall be limited to one year from the date thereof,
and one dollar to the said clerk, as his fee for granting the
same; any act, or part of any act to the contrary notwith-

standing: Provided however. That nothing herein contained,
shall be construed to reduce the tax of five hundred dollars,
to be paid fcr a license for the sale of lottery tickets, authoris-
ed by the laws of this state, in the city of Baltimare.

Proviso.
|
Sec, 5. And be it enacted, That it shall be the duty of each
and every of the said clarks of county courts, who may receive
money for a license or licenses, for the sale of lottery tickets,
under the provisions of this act, or of any existing law of this
state, to account for and pay over the same as other public
monies, to the treasurer of the Eastern or Western Shore, as
the case may be, semi-annually, on or before the first Mon-
days of May and November, annually, according to law; aad
if in the city of Baltimore, it shall be the duty of the clerk of
the city court of the said city, to deposit such money forthwith
as received, in some bank in the said city, to be designated by
the treasurer of the Western Shore, to the credit of the said
treasurer in his public character as such, excepting however,
a deduction of one per cent, which shall be allowed in all cases
on such monies, to be retained by said clerks, as their com-
mission for receiving and paying the said monies and no more;
and the said clerk of the city court shall render an account of
such deposits semi-annually, as aforesaid, to the treasurer of
the Western Shore.

SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That no occupant of any office,
room or house, not licensed to open or keep any office or other
place for selling lottery tickets in this state, shall permit or
suffer to be exhibited from any office, room or house, or be
attached thereto, any sign board, card, notice or device, the
purport of which will indicate that such office, room or house,
or any other office, room or house within this state, is a place
