thereof. Also that the teachers at present employed therein
may be continued, unless the board of trustees shall in their
discretion otherwise order; and the said institution, by the
name and title of the Maryland College, shall immediately
have, and is hereby invested with full power to confer on its
deserving pupils, collegiate honors, and the degrees of bache-
lor and master of arts, and of doctor, and have all the privi-
leges and rights, and be subject to all the provisions of this
act.

SEC. 15. And be it enacted, That this charter and act of
incorporation, and every part thereof, shall be good and avail-
able in all things in the law, according to the true intent and
meaning thereof, and shall be construed, reputed and adjudg-
ed in all cases most favorably , on the behoof, and for the best
benefit and behalf of the said trustees and their successors so
as most effectually to answer the valuable end of this incor-
poration towards the general advancement and promotion of

An act for the benefit of Richard Fowler of Baltimore county
WHEREAS, it is represented to this General Assembly that
Richard Fowler was for several years one of the collectors of
the tax for Baltimore county, and that the sum of twenty-
three dollars and sixty-three cents, being the amount of tax
due by Joseph Slee, has been twice paid by said Fowler—

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the commissioners of Baltimore county be, and they are here-
by authorised, empowered and directed, on being satisfied
that the said Richard fowler has in fact twice paid the amount
of tax due by said Joseph Slee, to allow to said Fowler the
sum so paid, with such interest from the time said commis-
sioners shall think him justly entitled to,

the Bohemia river, at the place where the public ferry is

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Hyland B. Pennington, Peregrine Biddle, Thomas
B, Veazy, John V. Price, O. Horsey, Richard Bayard and
Guy Bryon, all of Cecil county, be, and they are hereby ap-
pointed commissioners, to do and perform the several duties
hereinafter mentioned, that is to say: They or a majority of
them shall and may, on or before the first Monday of June
