the trustees of Lower West Nottingham Church, and their
successors to be appointed in the manner provided by the in-
strument incorporating the aforesaid congregation, or in such
manner as shall be provided by any future modification of the
said instrument agreeably to law, in trust for the use and be-
nefit of the said congregation, according to the true intention
of the said act.

CHAPTER 108;

 

An act to incorporate the Conewingo and Wilmington turnpike
road company.

Passed March 4,

1828.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That a company be incorporated to make a turnpike or
artificial road from the Conewingo bridge, in Cecil county,
Maryland, to the Delaware line, in a direction towards Wil-
mington, to be located by the president and managers herein-
after to be appointed, under the provisions of this act.

Incorporation,

SEC. 2, And be it enacted, That subscription books be
opened for a capital stock of sixty thousand dollars, in shares
of twenty five dollars each, and that subscriptions be takea
in the city of Baltimore, under the direction of Henry Thomp-
son, Joshua Turner, Ely Balderson and Nicholas Gorsuch; in
'Harford county, under the direction of John Norwood, Tho-
mas A. Hays, William Richardson, William Silver and Wil-
liam Pyle; at Conewingo, under the direction of Lewis Tho-
mas, William Porter of J. L. and Abijah Fenn; at the Brick
Meeting House, under the direction of John Briscoe, Joseph,
Harris and William Bailey Biles; who are hereby appointed
commissioners for the purposes aforesaid, who shall, on or
before the first Monday in May, eighteen hundred and thirty-
five, procure books, and in each enter as follows, to wit: We
whose names are hereunto subscribed, do promise to pay to
the president and managers of the Conewingo and Wilming-
ton turnpike company, the sum of twenty-five dollars for every
share of stock in said company set opposite our respective
names, Witness our hands this day of
eighteen hundred and and shall give notice in two
of the the public papers in Baltimore, and in the newspapers
printed in the towns of Belle Air and Elkton, for one month at
least, of the times, when, and the places where, the said books
will be opened to receive subscriptions of stock for the said,
company, at which times and places some one or more of the
said respective commissioners shall attend, and shall permit
and suffer all persons who shall offer to subscribe in person
or by attorney duly authorised, in said books, which shall
be kept open for that purpose at least four hours every
day, for the space of three days, if three days shall be ne-
