ARCHIVIST OF THE HALL OF RECORDS 17

ists in Ottawa, Canada on October 1 and 2; the dedication ceremony
of the Catonsville Community College on October 13th; the Maryland
Clerks of Court Annual Meeting at Ocean City on August 8.

The Assistant Archivist attended the Clerks' Meeting and the
meeting of the SAA at Ottawa. He also did the teaching at the
Eighteenth Institute of Genealogical Research and Introduction of
Modern Archives Administration, both of which the Hall of Records
has shared in since their inception by the American University and the
National Archives.

The Assistant Records Administrator attended the meeting of the
Court Clerks Association. He also attended the seminar conducted by
the Alpine Corporation dealing with the preparation of requests for
the retrieval of information from the Maryland Code, which is now
stored on computer by this corporation. Connis Brown of the Records
Management staff, attended the annual meeting of the Registers of
Wills, as well as the Clerks of Court Associations. He was also granted
the degree of Master of Public Administration by the American
University.

The Archivist was given a Certificate of Distinguished Citizenship
by Governor Mandel on the occasion of his completion of thirty years
as Archivist of Maryland.

Among the distinguished visitors at the Hall of Records during
the fiscal year were:

Naval Academy; Dr. Lois G. Carr, Historian, St. Mary's City Commis-
sion; Richard Cooper, Commissioner of the Maryland Geological Sur-
vey; Dr. Manuel Cordozo, Head, History Department, Catholic Uni-
versity; F. J. Dallett, American Museum, Bath, England; Wallace
Duszynski, graduate student, Catholic University; Dr. L. D. Edmonson,
Valley Forge, Pa.; William P. Filby, Librarian, Maryland Historical
Society; Jean Forbush, Researcher, Maryland Historical Trust; Mrs.
Howard Keith, President, Historic Annapolis, Inc.; Mrs. T. E. Heinton,
Prince George's County Historian; Bryce D. Jacobsen, Researcher,
