PUBLICATIONS

TWENTY-NINTH ANNUAL REPORT OF THE ARCHIVIST FOR
FISCAL YEAR JULY 1, 1963 THROUGH JUNE 30, 1964.

This report signalled the conclusion of our county land record
project and described the next step in gathering here, at the Hall of
Records, county records for security and for the convenience of research.

MARYLAND MANUAL, 1965-1966

Although this Manual was not scheduled to appear until January
1966, work was begun on it during the 1965 legislative session. Only
in this way can we meet our schedule. The size of the edition was in-
creased again to 6,200 copies from 5,700 copies in order to take care
of the rapid expansion of our school system and of our county libraries.

Mr. White, of our staff, reviewed two books for the Maryland
Historical Magazine:

Washington, Capital City, 1874-1950, by Constance M. Green,
Princeton, 1963.

My Travels in America, by Henri Herz, State Historical Society
of Wisconsin, 1963.

There were several reviews of our publications which appeared
last year and were worthy of your attention.

The County Courthouses and Records of Maryland, Part Two: The
Records, was reviewed in the Journal of Southern History, Vol. 31,
No. 1, pp. 122-123.

Court Records of Prince George's County was reviewed in the
American Historical Review, Vol. 80, No. 1, pp. 1125-1126. Professor
Richard B. Morris of Columbia University was the author of this
splendid review.
