FINANCIAL STATEMENT

Our appropriation for fiscal year 1963 was less by several thou-
sands of dollars than in the previous year. This is accounted for by the
fact that 1963 was not a year for the MANUAL which appears every
two years at the even-year sessions of the General Assembly.

An unusually large sum was reverted to General Funds of the
Treasury because one position in Records Management, Public Rec-
ords Examiner, was vacant for the full twelve months.

In program 1 there were two positions which were paid less than
the minimum of the scale indicated in the table. The reason for this is
that vacancies occurred for part of the year in both positions.

Fiscal year 1963 saw no increases in salaries, but at the beginning
of fiscal year 1964 there were some adjustments and there was a
change in the maximum of each scale by the addition of a seventh or
longevity increment given after the third year at the sixth increment
and amounting to 5% of the base scale.
