ARCHIVAL AND MANUSCRIPT ACCESSIONS

Continuing the trend of recent years, a large percentage of the
archival records accessioned during the past year were on microfilm.
The principal factor in this trend has been our county land records
project, which last year alone brought us 1,661 volumes. Among the
land records filmed in Cecil County were five volumes of Charlestown
Deeds, which record conveyances of lots dating back to 1742 when
the town was established by an act of assembly. We also received
film copies of 163 volumes of equity records of the Clerk of the Circuit
Court of Anne Arundel County that were filmed for security purposes
and placed in our care.

Original records received include the first installment of the
official papers of Governor J. Millard Tawes, covering the biennium
