In addition to film there axe originals and photostatic copies. The ter-
minal date is fixed at 1949 because film copies of the land records
after that date are required by law to be deposited by the clerks of
court in the Land Office.

The quantity of our formal relations with the public has for the past
few years remained fairly constant?if our correspondence drops in
number the number of visitors increases or the number of items cir-
culated. We can only account at least in part for the stability of our
