organizations and institutions elsewhere. These visits are sometimes
costly in time and travel but they are a necessary antidote against
parochialism.

The Archivist was especially interested in the underground vaults
which have been prepared by the Hall of Records of Delaware at
Lewes; he also profited from visits to the Hall of Records at Dover and
the twin Dupont archives at Longwood and Winterthur. In the course
of his daily work he visited the Library of Congress, the Maryland
Historical Society, the Peale Museum, the Peabody Institute and others.
Mr. Skordas represented the Hall of Records at the Annual Meeting
of the Augustine Herman Czech American Historical Society which
was held October 16, 1960 in Baltimore.

Mr. Beach attended the annual meeting of the Maryland Clerks of
Court Association at Ocean City. In company with the Archivist and
Mr. Skordas he attended an exhibition of Recordak microfilming equip-
ment and systems held at the Woodner Hotel in Washington. With Mr.
Skordas he attended the Second National Assembly of State Librarians
held at the Library of Congress and with Mr. Saunders he participated
in a data processing executive seminar offered by IBM at its Baltimore
offices.

As a token return for all that we have learned from others, we
welcome the opportunity to give our visitors as much as we can of our
records, our counsel and our time. We were especially gratified at the
number of those who thought it worthwhile to come to us last year.
We were pleased to have a group of planners for the splendid new
building of the Genealogical Society of the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter Day Saints as follows: Earl E. Olson, Librarian-Archivist in
the Historian's Office Library; Lorraine P. Arnell, Assistant Archivist;
T. Harold Jacobsen, Coordinator, Microfilm Division; William M.
Thomas and Richard W. Jackson, Architects of Salt Lake City. On
March 30, Ira D. Landis, Norman W. Nauman and Daniel Wert, who
are interested in the construction of a building in Lancaster, Pennsyl-
vania to house the archives, library and memorabilia of the Mennonite
Church, came on a similar mission.

Some other visitors were: Reverend Theodore H. Bailey, Vicar,
Middleham Chapel, Calvert Count}'; Rosamond Randall Beirne, Regent.
