14 TWENTY-SIXTH ANNUAL REPORT

became effective July 1, 1960. Subsequently (January 18, 1961) our
"Stenographer, Hall of Records" became "Principal Stenographer"
and, again, there was no change in salary scale.

Also on July I, 1960, the two "Photographers" at the Record
Centers (Program 3) were realistically reclassified as "Principal
Clerks." A small salary increase was also granted.

Daisy Lee Jones, who became a Senior Clerk in the Annapolis
Record Center August 5, 1959, resigned August 2, 1960, as she was
expecting a child. She was succeeded the next day by Martha Lee Mc-
Carthy, who subsequently married and became Martha L. Hardesty.
John W. Rousseau, appointed to the position of Principal Clerk in the
Baltimore Record Center January 20, 1960, resigned September 13,
1960. James F. Stymiest was promoted, September 14, from Senior
Clerk to Principal Clerk and the vacancy caused by his promotion was
filled September 28 by Alvin Meyer.

AH of us who had been in the State service for as much as five
years benefited from the new sixth annual increment of 5% which had
been provided by the General Assembly.
