RECORDS MANAGEMENT PROGRAM

The most significant development in records management during
the past year was the establishment of two records centers for the
care of non-current records of State agencies. The first was opened in
the basement of the new State Office Building in Annapolis in August,
1958. The second, located in the basement of the new Baltimore State
Office Building, began receiving records in June of 1959.

The acquisition of central depositories for records which must be
maintained for a given period but which have little current usages
remedies a deficiency long recognized as a major weakness of our pro-
