22 TWENTY-FIRST ANNUAL REPORT
the year there were several large orders of film provided for Winterthur
Museum, Colonial Williamsburg, and the Catholic University among others.
The bulk of our filming was of church records and of county land and
probate records. In the case of church records the film or the original was
kept at the Hall of Records—the church had first choice.
Microfilm which becomes a part of our collection, either archival or li-
brary, will be found listed in other sections of this Report, but here I should
like to mention the few large projects which are of sufficient interest to be re-
peated. Each day during the session of the General Assembly we filmed the
proceedings immediately after adjournment and before the copy was sent to
the printer; a large number of public documents in our collection were filmed
for the use of the Library of Congress; film was provided for the 1851-1873
land records of Dorchester County which were transferred earlier to the Hall
of Records; and we microfilmed the land records of Anne Arundel County
from 1880 to 1903 (part of a project to film these records from 1851 to
1949). The Anne Arundel County project alone required the filming of over
35,000 pages.
