ARCHIVIST OF THE HALL OF RECORDS 27

Our collection was enriched by the acquisition of a number of reports
and documents from the duplicate collections of the Enoch Pratt Free Li-
brary, the library of the Maryland Historical Society and the Department of
Legislative Reference. Seven documents were purchased at a modest price
from Mr. Claude W. Dorsey of Laurel, Maryland. Of these seven, particular
note should be made of the Report of the State Agricultural Chemist for
1854; a rare document, its acquisition enabled us to complete the file for
this office. Through the courtesy of Mr. Walter Goldstein of the Twentieth
Century Printing Company, we received a copy of the First Thirty-Five
Annual Reports of the Baltimore City Health Department (1815-1849), re-
printed in one volume in 1953.

During the past year we were able to resume the microfilming of public
documents held in other collections, the originals of which we have been
unable to procure. One hundred and six reports were added in this way.
Fifty-eight of these were borrowed from the Enoch Pratt Free Library and
the remainder from the Department of Legislative Reference. At the end of
the fiscal year approximately sixty more such reports were available from the
latter source for filming.

As a result of these efforts we were able to complete the report series
for twenty-one additional offices, agencies and institutions of the State. The
following table shows the agency, the period of its existence, and the number
of reports issued:
