ACTS OF ASSEMBLY
In order that our Records Management program might be implemented
it was necessary to give it legal status. To accomplish this purpose there
was introduced during the 1953 Session of the General Assembly an Act
which, on its passage as Chapter 436, became known as the Records Manage-
ment Act. Since its origin and purpose is described elsewhere in this report,
it need only be quoted here.
CHAPTER 436
(Senate Bill 441)
AN ACT to repeal Section 156 of Article 41 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1951 Edition), title "Governor — Executive and Ad-
ministrative Departments," sub-title "Hall of Records Commission,"
and to enact in lieu thereof, a new section to said Article to be known
as Section 156 and to stand in the place and stead of the section so re-
pealed, providing that every State Agency shall establish a continuing
program for management of its records, and for the disposal of its
records, and further providing that it shall be the duty of the Hall of
Records Commission to supervise said management and disposal and
to review and make recommendations concerning said management.
SECTION I. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
Section 156 of Article 41 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1951 Edi-
tion), title "Governor — Executive and Administrative Departments,"
sub-title "Hall of Records Commission," be and it is hereby repealed, and that
