sending his two sons to the school, Arnold was providing a refuge for
them for the perilous future when he would be on the other side of the
lines. A letter of October 6, 1780, written by Col. Walter Stewart, gives
an excellent insight into Arnold's character and indicates the bitter feeling
against him after his treachery was discovered.

Other private accessions of especial interest are a photostat copy of
the Minute Book dating from 1742 to 1926, deposited by the South River
Club; the map of Anne Arundel County, published by S. J. Martenet in
I860, given by Mrs. Cora M. Dulaney; and the rolls of Maryland Militia
detachments ordered into service during the War of 1812, which were
microfilmed from the originals by permission of Mrs. W. C. Turner, the
owner.
