32 SIXTEENTH ANNUAL REPORT

We have not hesitated to use our microfilming equipment to reproduce
rare copies of the publications of Maryland State Agencies. We have
also purchased microfilms of materials which we need from the Library of
Congress and others and, finally, we have found our cameras useful in
reproducing historical materials which were loaned to us for that pur-
pose. This last category of film is of necessity miscellaneous in nature
because we must film materials of this kind when the owners make them
available. Originals of the legislative journals and indexes listed here
below were borrowed from the Maryland State Library. These reproduc-
tions supplement film which we purchased from the Library of Congress,
and together these two projects have provided us with an almost complete
series of Journals and Acts of Assembly. The Diary of General Emory
was loaned by Mr. W. Tilghman Emory, a descendant, the Posey mate-
rials, including some militia rolls of the War of 1812, were loaned by Mrs.
W. C. Turner. The originals of the Annapolis Evening Capital are in our
vaults but they are in such poor condition that we hesitate to use them
any longer. As soon as film is ready the originals are retired from
circulation.
