Since the close of the fiscal year, we have been informed by the Police
Commissioner that during the period August 28'September 4, 1951, the
following records were destroyed:

Court Dispositions, 19164945................... 224,400 cards

Detective Case Files, 190M946................. 1,179,000 sheets

Detective Index 1901-1926..................... 228,000 cards

Missing Persons, 19404944..................... 12,000 cards

Missing Persons—(miscellaneous), 19414944...... 42,000 sheets

Accident Reports, 19424945................... 39,400 sheets

Violators' Record Cards, 19424948.............. 120,000 cards

General Correspondence, 19144926............... 105,000 sheets

COMPTROLLER OF THE TREASURY

On June 19, 1950, the Comptroller offered us the following records:
Payrolls, fiscal years 19404944, approximately 35 file drawers.
Disbursements, fiscal year 1945, approximately 40 file drawers.

They were refused for transfer to the Hall of Records and subsequently
destroyed. The certificate of destruction is dated August 24, 1950.

On June 8, 1951, the Comptroller offered us another lot of records
as follows:

Payrolls, fiscal years 19404941, 14 file drawers. (The destruction of

these records had been authorized previously, but through over-
sight they were preserved.)
Transmittal, fiscal year 1946, 48 file drawers.

Certificates of Deposit—Cash Receipts, 19364945, 24 transfile cases.
Certificates of Deposit—Collectors of State Taxes, 19364940, 1 trans-

file case.
Certifications of State Tax Commission on Ordinary Business, Cor-

porations, etc., 1942-1945, 1 transfile case.
Annual Reports of Clerks of Courts and Registers of Wills, 1928-

1940, 2 file drawers.
Monthly Reports of Clerks of Courts and Registers of Wills, 1941-

1945, 5 file drawers.
Maryland Estate Tax Returns, Nos. 1-450 (record in Cash Book cov-

ering these reports), 19324945, 3 file boxes.
