HEALTH, DEPARTMENT OF
On March 20, 1950, we received an inquiry from the Department of
Health regarding the destruction of certain records, a list of which was
enclosed,. The Archivist informed the Department of the procedure to be
followed in destroying records and pointed out that certain of the records
listed were permanent books of account, the destruction of which is pro'
hibited by law. After further correspondence, the Archivist recommended,
on April 26, 1950, that the permission of the Board of Public Works be
sought to destroy certain records which he listed. He also suggested that
certain of the records be placed on a schedule basis in the future. This
matter is still pending.
