Bayliff. A study of inquiries received by agencies under the board was
planned with a view to clarifying Maryland's information needs.
Generous and continuing help has been received from the U. S.
Department of Commerce, especially from John Weber, Baltimore Dis-
trict Manager. Others lending valuable assistance included Mrs. Mar-
garet W. Kimble, Deputy Commissioner of the Department of Labor
and Industry, and Dr. John W. Cover, Director of the University of
Maryland Bureau of Business and Economic Research, and Mr. Arthur
E. Durfee, Assistant Extension Editor of the Agricultural Extension
Service at the University of Maryland, and Captain E. R. Morrissey,
Executive Secretary of the Annapolis and Anne Arundel County
Chamber of Commerce.
Mr. Alfred Truitt, Executive Secretary of the Salisbury Chamber
of Commerce, Miss Elizabeth Laws of the Ocean City Bureau of In-
formation, Mr. Thurl W. Tower, President of the Deep Creek Lake
Association, Mr. Max Chambers, Publisher of the Preston News and
Bay County Farmer, have all helped the department gel underway.
Governor Lane has been generous with his time and advice, as have
been Mr. Louis J. O'Donnell, Assistant to the Governor, and Chief
Deputy Comptroller Joseph O'C. McCusker.
To Miss Dorothy Lane of Annapolis, who assisted the department
as a volunteer worker, much credit is owed for the department's ability
to meet the demands upon it.
