6 TENTH ANNUAL REPORT

HALL OF RECORDS COMMISSION

The Hall of Records Commission is an ex-officio body cre-
ated by Chapter 18, Acts of 1935. Its present members and the
office by virtue of which each serves on the Commission are given
below:

Two meetings of the Hall of Records Commission were held
in the course of the year. In both cases the place of meeting was
the Hall of Records in Annapolis. The first meeting, October 30,
1944, was attended by Judge Marbury, Senator Radcliffe, Mr.
Tawes and Mr. Barr. Judge Marbury reported that Dr. Pleas-
ants and he, accompanied by the Archivist, had appeared before
the Legislative Council to urge the passage of a bill requiring
the transfer to the Hall of Records of all county records ante-
dating the adoption of the Federal Constitution by Maryland.
Judge Marbury also reported that he and Dr. Pleasants had
discussed a division of the task of publishing early Maryland
records between the Maryland Historical Society and the Hall of
Records. This matter was discussed further by the members of
the Commission but no conclusion was reached.

At the suggestion of the Archivist, the Commission ruled
that the Hall of Records might be made available for exhibits
and lectures having to do with the history of this region. The
Archivist was asked to prepare a questionnaire designed to
