ARCHIVIST or THE HALL OF RECORDS 23

FREDERICK COUNTY MARRIAGE RECORDS. A chronological record
of marriages, 1778-1798, was indexed by male and female. 3,600
cards.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY MARRIAGE RECORDS, A chronological
record of marriages, 17784886, was indexed by male and female.
12,000 cards.

DEEDS. Index retained at Prince George's County Courthouse,
An outmoded index was rehabilitated and rebound. 1 vol.

REVOLUTIONARY PAPERS. An index to this collection of revolu-
tionary papers which had come to the Hall of Records from the
Land Office has been under way for several years. At the end of
last year 3,200 cards had been completed; 5,000 more were added
this year completing the work. 8,000 cards.

REVOLUTIONARY RECORDS. An index to a series of ledgers,
journals, and letter books of the Intendant, the Council of Safety,
the Auditor General, and the United States Agent. 14,100 cards.

MARYLAND VOLUNTEERS IN THE CIVIL WAR. An index to the
two-volume printed list of Marylanders who served in the Northern
armies published by the Legislature in 1882 and never before in-
dexed. 44,300 cards.

IN PREPARATION:

PROVINCIAL COURT JUDGMENTS. Work on this index which was
interrupted for two years was taken up again. Three additional
volumes were indexed but only the cards for one of them Liber
T. L. No. 3 have been typed and inserted in the files. This work
will continue.

MILITARY RECORDS. This index to the military records of the
Adjutant General will when it is completed cover the peace time
periods between 1783 and 1861. About 22,000 cards were prepared
this year, but this of course represents only a fraction of the whole.

RECORD OF MARRIAGES. For several years during the 1860's a
record of marriages was sent from the Counties to the Secretary of
State where they were duly recorded. This record covering only a
few years for the entire State will soon be ready for use; it now
contains about 5,000 cards.

TESTAMENTARY PROCEEDINGS. This index in 19 volumes is being
transcribed on cards in order to make it more convenient. Each
